Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is a substance obtained in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) by substituting hydrogen atoms for chlorine atoms. CPE is available as white powder. CPE is a porous rubber with outstanding chemical properties such as resistance to ageing of thermal oxygen, ageing of the ozone and resistance to acid and alkali. CPE exhibits outstanding flame retardant properties and is special evidence of combustion-drip. It has better durability, higher whiteness and is ideal for a wide range of applications in plastics and rubbers, the product is completely recovered which ensures cleanliness and environmentally friendly.

Chlorinated polyethylene polymer as impact modifiers has better impact resistance and low cost thus demand for chlorinated polyethylene is expected to grow. As a result, demand for the polymers for the rugged, flexible, and rigid products is growing for blends with PVC. Chlorinated polyethylene has resistance to heat, ozone, and combustion therefore demand for chlorinated polyethylene is likely to expand at rapid pace. Chlorinated polyethylene is expected to substitute conventional materials such as metals for better end-product efficiency. Demand for chlorinated polyethylene in the automotive, building & manufacturing, and wires & cables industries is expected to grow significantly during the forecast period.

Fluctuation of raw material prices such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) is anticipated to hamper the growth of chlorinated polyethylene. Overcapacity of chlorinated polyethylene in China actually exists a significant surplus of Chinese production, but some Chinese production is considered to be non-operational. Thus overcapacity of chlorinated polyethylene is likely to restrain the chlorinated polyethylene market.
