It is widely used to manufacture various fluoroborate compounds such as Tin tetrafluorobotrate, copper tetrafluorobotrate, lead tetrafluorobotrate, zinc tetrafluorobotrate, potassium tetrafluorobotrate, ammonium tetrafluorobotrate, sodium tetrafluorobotrate and others. Fluoroboric acid is available in the market in standard concentrations ranging from 41% to 50%. It is a very strong acid and is often diluted using water and solvents like diethyl ether.
