Report Format: PDF | Published Date: Ongoing | Report ID: FBI100849 | Status : UpcomingThe hip is a ball & socket synovial joint that helps in docking the leg to the torso of the body. A healthy and normal hip contains the ball and socket shielded with a smooth layer of tissue called cartilage that enables the femoral head and acetabulum to move against each other easily and painlessly. Hip resurfacing is a surgical alternative to replace the damaged hip joint.
The method comprises of setting a hollow metal cap, molded like a mushroom, over the head of the femur whereas a coordinating metal glass is put within the acetabulum (pelvis attachment), replacing the coherent surfaces of the patient's hip joint and expelling exceptionally small bone compared to a THR.
The global hip resurfacing implants market is expected to grow rapidly during the forecast period, owing to the increasing aging population and increase in several minimally invasive surgical procedures. The demand for hip resurfacing implants is growing, and an increasing number of people are undergoing hip resurfacing implants owing to a decreased risk of hip dislocation.
However, some side effects of the hip resurfacing implants such as femoral neck fracture, dislocation of the ball, blood clots after surgery, high risk of anesthesia infection are some of the major factors restraining the growth of the global hip resurfacing implants market.
