Methylene Diphenyl Isocyanate abbreviated as MDI is an aromatic type of isocyanate with three isomers. The isomers are formed due to the varying position of isocyanate group around the rings 2,2’MDI, 2,4’ MDI, and 4,4’MDI. Out of these isomers 4,4’ MDI is the purest and most widely used isomer. MDI reacts with polyols to manufacture polyurethane, an important polymer.
