Vesical catheter permits the urine to deplete from the urinary bladder for collection and examination. Vesical catheter can also be used to introduce medications for treatment or diagnosis of bladder conditions. If the bladder does not completely drained, then urine can build up in the bladder and can lead to pressure in the kidneys. This increased pressure on kidneys can lead to kidney failure, which can be dangerous and result in permanent damage to the kidneys.
