"Designing Growth Strategies is in our DNA"
A feeding tube is a medical device used to provide nutrition externally to the patients who are unable to swallow. This state of being fed by the feeding tubes is termed as gavage or enteral feeding. Various medical conditions require enteral feedings such as neonatal conditions including low birth weight or pre-term births, and patients suffering from chronic diseases with longer hospital stays. Placement of these feeding tubes can be temporary for the treatment of acute diseases or permanent in case of chronic diseases.
These feeding tubes are made of polyurethane or silicone which are biocompatible in nature. Recently, in February 2017, Fidmi Medical launched a feeding tube that is easier to insert, user-friendly and cost-effective. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 in every 10 babies is born pre-term globally, which is an estimated 15 million pre-term babies born every year. This is expected to have more demand for the feed tubes globally, subsequently driving the growth of the feeding tubes market.

Rise in the chronic diseases such as diabetes, increasing incidence of gastrointestinal diseases and cancer, the rise in geriatric population, and rise in the incidence of premature birth are some of the major factors driving the demand and subsequent growth of the global feeding tubes market. Development of more disposable and portable feeding tubes will impel the growth of the global feeding tube market during the forecast period of 2019-2026.
However, inadequate reimbursement policies in the developing countries, low-cost competition from small players, and inadvertent dislodgment of tubes are some of the factors restraining the growth of the global feeding tubes market. Additionally, leakage of the gastric content around the feeding tube is also one of the major factor restraining the growth of the global feeding tubes market.
Some of the major companies that are present in the global feeding tubes market are ALCOR Scientific, Amsino International Inc., Applied Medical Technology, Inc., Baxter International Inc., B. Braun Melsungen AG, BD, Cardinal Health, DANONE, Degania Silicone Ltd., Fresenius Kabi AG, HYH, Nestle, Vygon, and others.
