"Designing Growth Strategies is in our DNA"
Ossiculoplasty or Ossicular chain reconstruction is a surgical procedure performed to repair and reconstruct the natural motion and function of the ossicles or the small bones in the middle ear. Various conditions affect the movement and functionality of three tiny bones in the middle ear namely the malleus, the incus and the stapes bones, which if left untreated can lead to mild or severe hearing loss.
There are two major types of ossicular reconstruction procedures, a Total Ossicular Replacement Prosthesis (TORP), and a Partial Ossicular Replacement Prosthesis (PORP). Various conditions including chronic ear diseases, infection, or a trauma can lead to damage to the ossicles in the middle ear.

Increasing prevalence of chronic ear diseases such as cholesteatoma, otitis media, and other conditions are leading towards an increasing number of people around the world suffering from mild to severe hearing loss. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) statistics, in 2012 an estimated 5.2% population in the world were suffering from hearing loss. This combined with higher efficiency of partial ossicular replacement prosthesis as compared to hearing aids in the treatment of hearing loss, and increasing preference by surgeons for the minimally invasive procedure, are some of the major factors which are expected to drive the global partial ossicular replacement prosthesis market during the forecast period.
However, lack of awareness among patient population towards the surgical procedures, and comparatively higher cost of the surgical procedure are some of the factors expected to restrain the growth of the global partial ossicular replacement prosthesis market by 2026.
Some of the major companies operating in the global partial ossicular replacement prosthesis market are Medtronic, Olympus Corporation, Heinz Kurz GmbH Medizintechnik, GRACE MEDICAL, and Spiggle & Theis.

Among the segmentation, the titanium among material segment is projected to dominate the global market in 2018, owing to better biocompatibility, and reduced inference with MRI and CT diagnostic procedures.
North America is projected to dominate the global partial ossicular replacement prosthesis market during the forecast period owing to increasing preference towards minimally invasive surgical procedures in the U.S. and Canada. Combined with adequate reimbursement policies in the region, is leading to the increasing number of patients undergoing partial ossicular replacement procedures. The market in Asia Pacific region is projected to register comparatively higher CAGR from 2019-2026, owing to a large patient pool in emerging countries such as China and India along with increasing awareness about surgical treatment of ear diseases.
